History of Wadham College AFC
Historically, Wadham have been largely anonymous throughout the history of football at Oxford, although this has altered drastically recently. Wadham only appeared in their first Cuppers final as recently as 1999, beating Balliol, but the occasion seemed to whet their appetite. The following year, the final year before the creation of the Premier division, Wadham retained their Cuppers crown and added the first division title to become the 8th team to win the double. The following season, their third successive Cuppers final ended in their first defeat as Magdalen asserted their dominance over college football. Two more Cuppers finals were won, and lost in 2002/03 and 2003/04 and a 6th final in 8 years was reached in 2005/06, although the result went against Wadham. The league success in the final season of the old format has not been carried over into the Premier division and Wadham were relegated to the First division in 2003/04. A second successive relegation in 2004/05 saw them start the 2005/06 season in the bottom tier of college football but back to back promotions mean Wadham will again be dining at the top table in 2007/08.
